I think it will make the internet safer in the long run—post-quantum cryptography is already being developed.

Depends who has access to the technology. In the wrong hands, it could break encryption overnight.

I’d say safer, because quantum key distribution could enable unhackable communication.

With Shor’s algorithm, current RSA-based encryption is definitely at risk.
